9th- McLennan County Junior Livestock Show Swine Validation 4-6PM at HOT

10th- Lamb and Goat Showmanship Clinic (bring your animals) from 6-8PM at the MCC Highlander Ranch

11th- Holiday the Extension Office will be closed.

Horse Judging Practices

There will be a horse judging practice on Sunday, November 15th at 2PM at the HOT facilities.

District 8 Food Show and Food Challenge Results

Congratulations to the McLennan County 4-H Food Challenge Teams

China Spring 4-H Senior Members-Paige Pollard, Jessica Garrett, and Haley Griffin placed first and will be competing at the first ever State Food Challenge in June.

Bosqueville 4-H Senior Members-JT Motloch, Wil Motloch, Lauren Motloch and Connor Jackson placed 5th

The Robinson 4-H Jr/Inter Team and the Bosqueville 4-H jr/Inter Team did a great job representing McLennan County also.

Emmali Pankonien of Hallsburg 4-H placed 4th in the Fruits and Vegetables Food Show.

Congratulations to National Livestock Judging Team

This Sunday November 1st Brant Embry, Emily Jackson, Laramie Priest and Taylor Haliburton competed in the American Royal Livestock Judging Contest in Kansas City, KS representing Texas 4-H. The Team placed 9th overall, 2nd in reason (which is awesome) and 3rd in beef. Emily Jackson placed 4th in beef and 2nd in reasons. The team did a great job in representing Texas and McLennan County.

Horse Judging Practices

The horse judging teams have started practicing for the 2009-2010 contest. September Practices are 9-20-09 @ 2PM @ HOT office and 9-27-09 @ 2PM @ HOT office. Bar-B-Que Fundraiser

The McLennan County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams are hosting a Bar-B-Que where you order your fully cooked meat by noon on September 16th and pick it up at the Robinson Volunteer Fire Dept. (behind Rocket Café) on HWY 77 between 1pm - 3pm on September 19th. All of the bar-b-que is very tasty, a great price and would a great addition to any tailgate party or family gathering.

Jackpot Livestock Show...What a great warm up before HOT

McLennan County Go-Texan Committee Livestock Show will be held on Saturday, October 3, at the Clifton Fairgrounds in Clifton, Texas. Entry fees are $20 per head for all species. Steer entries for the McLennan County Junior Livestock Show are due on Tuesday, September 8th by 5PM to the County Extension Office. Entries are $20 per steer.

Validation Tags for market goats and lambs and breeding sheep

Market Goat, Market Lamb and Breeding Sheep Validation Tag order form http://agfacts.tamu.edu/D8/Mclennan/4H/L_g_state.pdf due August 31st to the Extension Office. Remember you must order and pay for a validation tag to be able to enter in any of the winter/spring majors.

McLennan County 4-H had great success at the 2009 State Roundup in College Station

The Livestock Judging Team with team members Emily Jackson, Brant Embry, Laramie Priest, and Taylor Haliburton placed 3rd overall our of 97 teams and winning a trip to judge at the American Royal Livestock Show in Kansas City on November 1st. This team also placed 2nd in the swine division and 1st in the sheep and goat division. Team member Emily Jackson placed 1st overall out of 278 judgers along with 4th in the swine division, 2nd in the sheep and goat division, 2nd in the beef division, and 1st in reasons.

McLennan County's second livestock judging team of Dalton Meurer, Connor Jackson and Christy Jones placed 28th and was the 2nd place team from District 8.

Other successes at State Roundup Included:

Emily Jackson placing first in the Public Speaking contest and Connor Jackson placing 9th in the Public Speaking Contest where there were 26 participants.

Jessica Garrett received a Blue honor for her photography.

Member of the MCH 4-H Club also participated in contest at Roundup.
